വിവരണം

  • Points on the board - Right then, Sunrisers Leeds have a W against their name, whereas Southern Brave are still finding their feet in this new season. We are now done with 3 games in the day, and we still have one game remaining. Sunrisers Leeds and Southern Brave go back and forth with a win each, and in Cardiff, the Women from Welsh Fire make light work of MI London. Next up, it is time for the Men from Welsh Fire to go up against MI London. That game is scheduled to start at 5 pm GMT (10.30 pm IST), and MI London are set to bowl first. You can simply switch tabs and catch our coverage of that contest. Cheers!

  • Let's recap the first innings - Earlier in the game, Sunrisers Leeds were asked to bat first and Mitchell Marsh came out like a man on a mission. He hit the ball to every part of the ground, and Ryan Rickelton also got off to a flying start. They did lose their way in the middle overs, and Adil Rashid completely turned the game on its head when he picked up 3 wickets in a space of 5 balls. It was then Dan Lawrence, who played a blinder and struck an unbeaten 51 off just 25 balls to go along with a cameo from Tom Alsop that propelled the Sunrisers to 187 runs.

  • Death bowling at its finest - The second innings really ebbed and flowed, and Sunrisers Leeds did really well to make a comeback, not once, but twice. The bowlers were peppered in the Powerplay, but managed to pick up a few wickets in the middle phase. Abrar Ahmed also bowled a lovely spell of 10 balls, where he picked up 2 wickets for 7 runs, after being hammered for 26 runs in his first 10 balls. The likes of Matthew Potts and Matthew Revis did bowl a few untidy sets which pushed the hosts on the back foot, but with 35 needed off 20 balls, Nathan Ellis and Brydon Carse conceded just 14 runs in the next 15 balls, which included a couple of fine saves in the field as well. In the final set, Potts just about held his nerve to see his side over the line.

  • Let's hear from the Player of the Match - Mitchell Marsh is given the award for his whirlwind knock of 69 off just 34 balls. Marsh says the tournament has been awesome so far and credits the great bunch of lads in the squad for settling in quickly. Mentions the way the bowlers bowled at the end was exceptional. On the venue, Marsh says it's a beautiful place to bat and even feels quite small at times. Hopes that as a batting group, they can make the most of their home advantage.

  • Runs throughout the lineup, no end product - It is a tough pill to swallow for Southern Brave, who lose their second game on the trot to begin their campaign, and they will feel this was one that they should have won. Ben McKinney was on fire at the start of the chase, but in that one set from Brydon Carse, where he failed to lay bat on multiple balls, it changed the momentum. He soon fell in the 40s, and Jamie Smith followed suit. Marcus Stoinis played a quick cameo but he and Miller got out in a small space of time and a lot rested on the shoulders of Tristan Stubbs. Stubbs did get out of the blocks quickly and even Nikhil Chaudhary got a couple of hits away at the other end. However, 3 of the last 4 sets went boundary-less and that was the true difference between victory and defeat.

  • The hosts clinch an epic clash - One of the games of the season already, and in the end, it is Sunrisers Leeds who manage to pip Southern Brave by a small margin to get their first win of the season. The home crowd got their money's worth, and after the Women failed to win a close game earlier in the day, the Men went on to do it.

FOUR! Sunrisers Leeds win by 5 runs. Relief on the face of Matthew Potts. He was under immense pressure after missing a couple of yorkers, but he held his nerve to seal the deal for his side. Full and on off. Jordan clears the front leg and swings at it. Gets it away towards the deep mid-wicket fence for a boundary.

  • 19.4

And Potts nails it. Executes the yorker, on off. Stubbs can only squeeze it out wide of cover for a single. 10 needed off 1 and all Potts has to do is to keep his foot behind the line.

  • 19.3

SIX! Not from the middle but it gets the job done. Potts gets the yorker wrong as it comes out as a full toss and it is in the hitting arc of the batter. Stubbs swings through the line and gets enough wood on it to clear the long off fielder. 11 needed off 2 for Brave. Potts has to nail one of the remaining two balls.

  • 19.2

FOUR! Stubbs finally gets one away. It comes down to 17 needed off 3. Potts misses his yorker by a foot or two, outside off. Stubbs collapses his back knee and is able to get under the ball. He slams it over extra cover for a one-bounce boundary.

  • 19.1

Picking up from where Ellis left off, is Potts. Nails the yorker, on off. Stubbs hangs deep in the crease but cannot do much about it. Jams it out back towards the bowler.

  • Who will bowl the final set? It will be Matthew Potts. 20 to defend, a lot depends on how the first ball goes.

  • End of Over 19
    Over 19. 5 runs. Bowler: Nathan Ellis. : 167/5 (rr 8.79)
    This Over: 1,0(W),1,1(1WD),1,1
  • 18.5

Excellent penultimate set by Nathan Ellis. He finishes with figures of 20-4-25-1. Ellis sticks to the wide yorker ploy. Jordan is made to reach out and he drags it away to long on for a single.

  • 18.4

Near the tramline, Stubbs takes it on the full and firms the drive to deep cover but can only get a single. 22 required off 6.

  • Sunrisers Leeds are out of time. Before the last ball was bowled, the Sunrisers had to bring an extra fielder inside the ring.

  • 18.4

Wide! This is beyond the tramline. Stubbs lets it go.

  • 18.3

Ellis sticks to the wide line, on a length. Jordan stretches out but clinks it to deep point for a single.

  • The skipper, Chris Jordan, walks out to bat next.

  • 18.2
Nikhil Chaudhary c Matthew Revis b Nathan Ellis 14 (13)

OUT! CAUGHT! Nathan Ellis gets the reward for bowling to his field. Two men in the deep on the off side for the wide line, and Nikhil Chaudhary has hit this to one of them. Full and near the tramline on off. Chaudhary reaches out and gets low to go big on the off side. Gets it from the toe end of the blade towards deep cover, where Matthew Revis runs in and slides to snaffle it. Southern Brave are now 163/5, needing 25 off 8.

  • 18.1

Ellis serves it full, outside off. Stubbs hangs deep in the crease and swings at it but loses his shape in the process. Inside edges it to short fine leg and the batters cross for one.

  • Just 9 runs off the last 10 balls. Outstanding from Nathan Ellis and Brydon Carse. Ellis to bowl the crucial penultimate? You betcha!

  • End of Over 18
    Over 18. 5 runs. Bowler: Brydon Carse. : 162/4 (rr 9.00)
    This Over: 1,1,1,1,1,
  • 17.5

Yes, he does. Nice and full, on middle. Stubbs cannot get under it and hits it along the ground to long on for only a single. Southern Brave require 26 runs off 10 balls.

  • 17.4

Does not carry! Carse takes pace off and goes into the wicket, on middle. Chaudhary tries to take it on but is early into the shot. He does not get any power on the shot and it lands well in front of Matthew Revis at deep backward square leg. They cross. So far, so good from Carse. Can he finish well?

  • 17.3

Nails the yorker, on middle. Stubbs jams it out to long on for one. 28 needed off 12.

  • 17.2

Good stop! At the hips, on the shorter side. Chaudhary shovels it away but Abrar Ahmed is swift to his right at short fine leg and he slides to cut it off. Just a single.

  • 17.1

Fractionally short, on middle. Stubbs pulls it hard to deep square leg for a single.

  • Brydon Carse comes back in, replacing Matthew Potts.

  • End of Over 17
    Over 17. 4 runs. Bowler: Nathan Ellis. : 157/4 (rr 9.24)
    This Over: 0,1,1,1,1,
  • 16.5

Dug in short, over middle. Chaudhary gets his hands high and taps it away on the leg side for a run.

  • 16.4

On a back of a length, on middle. Stubbs nurdles it in the vacant square leg region. Nathan Ellis goes after it and slides to get rid of the ball but pulls up while doing so before getting back up on his feet.

  • That was an unbelievable piece of fielding from Revis, and the crowd certainly applauded that.
