OUT! Bowled. Keemo Paul to Mustafizur Rahman. Seaming in back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot defending, missed to. Middle stump is knocked back, Paul roars in delight as the innings comes to an end. Bangladesh have been bowled out for a below par total of 129.

That was a frenetic innings, lots of intent to find the boundary but not much desire to knock the ball around for ones and twos from Bangladesh. There is still room for that in this format and it's something they will reflect on after being blown away by the Windies. Sheldon Cottrell and Oshane Thomas set the tone, with the former taking career best figures of 4/28 after a superb spell. The rest of the bowlers followed suit for the tourists as they used the short ball to great effect. Shakib Al Hasan was the one bright spark for Bangladesh, his 61 means they have something to defend but they will have to be outstanding with the ball.

  • 18.5

Keemo Paul to Mustafizur Rahman. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, to point for no runs, fielded by Powell.

  • 18.4

OUT! Caught. Keemo Paul to Mehedi Hasan. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Hope. Mehedi almost swings himself off his feet, loses his shape completely and feathers an edge behind. Paul celebrates his first wicket of the day and now the hosts are in serious danger of being bowled out.

  • 18.3

Keemo Paul to Abu Hider. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, to mid on for 1 run, fielded by Hetmyer.

  • 18.2

Keemo Paul to Mehedi Hasan. Length ball, outside off stump down the track driving, to long on for 1 run, fielded by Hetmyer.

  • 18.1

FOUR! Keemo Paul to Mehedi Hasan. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past deep backward point for 4 runs. Scythed powerfully to the fence, Mehedi pounced on the width with aplomb.

  • 17.6

Sheldon Cottrell to Abu Hider. Half volley, to leg on the front foot working, back to bowler for no runs, fielded by Cottrell.

  • 17.5

Sheldon Cottrell to Mehedi Hasan. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot working, to square leg for 1 run, fielded by Hetmyer.

  • 17.4

Sheldon Cottrell to Mehedi Hasan. Back of a length, to leg on the back foot driving, to backward point for no runs, fielded by Powell.

  • 17.3

OUT! Caught & Bowled. Sheldon Cottrell to Shakib Al Hasan. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled to short mid wicket, fielded by Cottrell. Another pull shot goes awry for Bangladesh. The Windies pace attack has really used the bouncer impressively today and the hosts have had no answer for it. Shakib played a lovely knock but he can't see it through to the end. Cottrell now has career best bowling figures.

  • 17.2

SIX! Sheldon Cottrell to Shakib Al Hasan. Slower ball half volley, off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs. Muscled over the fence, Shakib waited for the slower one and then swung as hard as he possibly could. He's keeping his side in with a chance of posting a decent total.

  • 17.1

Sheldon Cottrell to Mehedi Hasan. Back of a length, to leg on the back foot dropped, to gully for 1 run, direct hit by Powell.

  • 16.6

FOUR! Carlos Brathwaite to Shakib Al Hasan. Length ball, outside off stump down the track Slog, outside edge past third man for 4 runs. That's a filthy heave from Shakib but he gets away with it as the ball zips down to the third man rope. He won't care how the runs come at the moment.

  • 16.5

Carlos Brathwaite to Mehedi Hasan. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot working, to mid wicket for 1 run, fielded by Bravo.

  • 16.4

  • 16.2

Carlos Brathwaite to Mehedi Hasan. Half volley, off stump on the front foot driving, to short mid wicket for no runs, fielded by Bravo.

  • 16.1

OUT! Caught. Carlos Brathwaite to Mohammad Saifuddin. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long on, by Pooran. You have to question the shot selection here. With the skipper going really well at the other end, I'm not sure why Saifuddin has decided to try and hammer his second ball out of the park. Pooran plucks his second catch in the space of four balls, not bad for a man who is normally found with the gloves on.

  • 15.6

SIX! Fabian Allen to Shakib Al Hasan. Stock length ball, off stump down the track flick, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs. Boom, that's gone miles back into the crowd for the first six of the day. Shakib goes to fifty in fine style, skipping towards the bowler and launching him ferociously over mid wicket.

  • 15.5

Fabian Allen to Mohammad Saifuddin. Stock ball back of a length, down leg side on the back foot working, to fine leg for 1 run, fielded by Bravo.

  • 15.4

OUT! Caught. Fabian Allen to Ariful Haque. Stock length ball, down leg side on the front foot slog sweeping, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep square leg, by Pooran. Picks out the man in the deep, Ariful can't believe what he's done. Allen raises his arms in celebration but it wasn't the greatest delivery he's ever bowled. Drifting down leg, it was there to be hit but Ariful couldn't find the gap. Bangladesh sink further, they need to finish strongly here.

  • 15.3

Fabian Allen to Shakib Al Hasan. Stock ball back of a length, middle stump on the back foot cutting, to backward point for 1 run, fielded by Pooran.

  • 14.6

FOUR! Keemo Paul to Ariful Haque. Length ball, off stump backing away driving, well timed in the air under control past deep extra cover for 4 runs. This releases some of the pressure after five dot balls in a row. Ariful was desperate to hit through the offside so this time he takes the aerial route. Sweetly struck.

  • 14.5

Keemo Paul to Ariful Haque. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, to cover for no runs, shy attempt by Pooran.

  • 14.4

Keemo Paul to Ariful Haque. Short, outside off stump on the back foot defending, to short leg for no runs, fielded by Paul.

  • 10.5

Shakib Al Hasan to Keemo Paul. Stock length ball, down leg side on the front foot working, hit pad to short mid wicket for 1 run, fielded by Rahim.

West Indies have completely demolished Bangladesh by eight wickets in Sylhet to take a 1-0 lead in the T20I series. The tourists came out all guns blazing in pursuit of a below par total to show why they are the World Champions. Shai Hope smashed his way to a 16-ball fifty, the third fastest in T20I history, as the Bangladesh bowling attack was destroyed to all parts of the ground. Shakib Al Hasan had earlier dragged the hosts up to 129 with his knock of 61, but there was no support at the other end in a frenzied innings. Sheldon Cottrell used the short ball expertly to pick up career best figures of 4/28 before the Windies batsmen completed the job. It was comfortably their largest victory in terms of balls remaining in the second innings and a great way to start the series. Bangladesh will need a much improved performance in the 2nd T20I on Thursday.

  • 10.4

Taken in the deep, Hope's blitz comes to an end. He had to stretch for this so couldn't get the necessary power to clear the rope, giving Mustafizur a simple catch.
